I'm Still Here!

I knew this would happen. It always does,

I started a blog, posted a few updates, then got distracted. Life happened, video games happened. Whatever the excuse, I haven't updated in a looong time. I'd like to keep these long breaks down to a minimum, but this probably won't be the last time it happens.

Before I start rambling again, enjoy this picture of my little man ready to pillage the neighborhood for Halloween treats!

MaxViking and the Dragon Wagon!

As you can see, Halloween was great. Max wanted to be a viking, and I was ecstatic to put together his costume and some other goodies. I know it is in no way historically accurate, but Max loved it once we finally got him to put the whole thing on! He complained that the fur arm and leg wrappings were itchy, but once we got his pants and shirt on underneath them, he was super excited. He even wanted to put on the cloak, which is nothing BUT fur! I worked some of my cardboard wizardry to make him a helmet and axe, and was even able to turn his wagon into a Viking raiding ship/The Dragon Wagon in the few hours before we went trick or treating.

For some reason, there weren't near as many houses with the porch lights on giving out candy as there have been in the last year or two, but the kids still got their candy buckets stuffed and everybody went home happy. This was the first year that Max really understood what was going on and he'd been fired up to go trick or treating for weeks. I even had to stop him from going into a few houses when the doors came open, but I guess that's what happens when your kid is dressed as a viking.

In other news, I have a new job! I'm now flying high with the Argyle ISD Eagles as a Computer Technician. After nearly 10 years at Mouser, and 6 years of driving 45-90 minutes each each way (THANKS I-35W CONSTRUCTION), I am now literally ONE MILE from my job. I'm getting back roughly 2 hours of my day, and it is really pretty mind-blowing. I can eat lunch at home, I can help Max and Margee in the morning without having to do everything while they are still sleeping, and I can take Max to, or pick him up from, school if needed without it wrecking my whole day. I have TIME now. yard work, house projects, working out, cooking meals...all of these things are now possible during a normal day. of course, i haven't started doing ALL of them yet, but that will come. My stress level is so much lower and my quality of life is so much higher. I am looking forward to the ENTIRE WEEK OFF for Thanksgiving this year. I'm still not totally adjusted to the new routine yet, but that's to be expected after going to the same building for almost 10 years straight.

Okay! I think that's enough blah blah for now. I hope everybody else had a great Halloween!

JB
